A huge congratulations to our Health & PE Teacher and Head Football Coach, Tim Mattingly on being inducted into the Washington County 2025 Hall of Fame! His dedication to athletics, education, and mentoring student-athletes has left a lasting impact both on and off the field.

We are proud to have him as part of the Bethlehem family and celebrate this well-deserved recognition!

Tim Mattingly, a 1986 graduate of Washington County High School, was a standout football player from 1982 to 1985. In his senior year, he earned All-State Honorable Mention, was named Team MVP, and received the prestigious Commander Award. Tim began his coaching career at Washington County in 1990 as an Assistant Football Coach, later serving as Defensive Coordinator from 1995 to 2000. In 2001, he was promoted to Head Coach, leading the program until 2003. He also coached boys’ and girls’ track at WCHS from 1995 to 2004. In 2004, Tim joined Meade County as Defensive Coordinator, a role he held until 2013. During his tenure, the team won four District Championships, two Region Championships, and finished as State Runner-Up in 2013. From 2014 to 2023, Tim served as Head Football Coach at Central Hardin, where he became the winningest coach in program history.
Under his leadership, the team won six District Championships, three Region Runner-Ups, two Region Championships, and two Semi-StateRunner-Ups. Now in his 36th season as a coach, Tim continues to inspire and develop young athletes as the Head Coach at Bethlehem High School. With decades of experience, a deep passion for the game, and a commitment to building strong, disciplined teams, he remains a respected leader in Kentucky high school football. Off the field, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife of 32 years, Kris; their son, Tyler, and his wife, Carleigh; and their daughter, Elizabeth and her boyfriend, Brendon. He is also a devoted grandfather to Mac and Hallie, with another grandchild on the way in May 2025.

A big congratulations to our very own Madie Sparks, Bethlehem’s Director of Admissions & Public Relations, for winning FREE wings for a year through the Wings and Rings 19th District Tournament 3-Point Challenge on Sunday! This past weekend, the Bethlehem Archery Team delivered an incredible performance, finishing runner-up with an outstanding team score of 3,330—just five points shy of first place (3,335)! A special congratulations to Wes Goff, who is the Class A State Archery Champion with an impressive score of 295! Additionally, Leo Walton had a fantastic showing, placing 7th overall with a score of 288. We are so proud of these athletes and their hard work—congratulations to the entire team on an amazing performance!

Congratulations to the Eagle Wrestling Team over the weekend for making a solid showing at John Hardin High School for the KHSAA Region 2 Tournament. Ethan Mullins, Trevor Raikes, Dylan Canterna, and Deegan Brown all earned a win apiece. Thomas Strange earned 2 wins. Special Recognition goes to Joseph Wallace for placing 4th and Sam Ryan for placing 3rd, and your 2025 KHSAA Region 2 Champion, Max Brewer. All 3 wrestlers will be competing at the State Tournament this weekend in Lexington, KY at the Alltech Arena. Congratulations Eagles and good luck.

Mr. Gilly Simpson’s group, the Joseph of Arimathea Society, is a deeply meaningful club that embodies compassion and service to those in need. Named after the Biblical figure who generously offered his tomb to Jesus after the Crucifixion, the group provides pallbearer services to individuals who, due to various circumstances, lack family members able to assist with this final act of respect. The Society primarily serves the homeless, indigent, and elderly, offering a solemn and caring presence during difficult times. Today, the group honored a 94-year-old Korean War veteran who, without family members physically able to carry his casket, was able to rely on the Society’s members. At the heart of the Joseph of Arimathea Society is the Catholic principle of “bury the dead,” one of the seven corporal works of mercy, which inspires the group’s mission to serve with dignity and love.

The gym is ready to host the 19th District Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament, and the excitement is building! Our team worked hard to ensure the facility is prepared to provide the best experience for athletes, coaches, and fans. We are proud to be hosting this tournament and look forward to welcoming everyone to an unforgettable week of basketball action!

Bethlehem is honored and excited to host the 19th District Tournament this year! We can’t wait to bring together athletes, coaches, and fans for an action-packed event. To enhance the experience, we’ll be providing a tournament program to keep everyone informed and engaged throughout the games. In addition, a hospitality room will be available for coaches, administrators, officials, and media. We’re eager to showcase the talent and sportsmanship of all the teams!

Here are a few important details regarding tickets:
1. We will only accept GoFan tickets. Coach passes will be valid for the cardholder only.
2. The ticket price is $8.00 for everyone. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer free entry for students or senior citizens as we usually do. This is not a decision made by Bethlehem; as the host school, we are simply following the guidelines for this event, and the revenue is being shared among the five participating schools.

Today, on School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our incredible bus drivers. They play such an important role in the daily lives of our students, ensuring that they arrive at school safely, on time, and ready to learn. Their dedication, care, and commitment to our students don't go unnoticed. We are so thankful for their hard work, especially through the challenges of weather and traffic. Our school community is better because of their service, and we truly appreciate all they do every day!

Last week, Coach Jason "Jayod" Clark reached an incredible milestone, earning his 200th career victory as head coach of our Banshee Basketball program!
Under Coach Clark’s leadership, our Banshees have reached several significant milestones, including:

5 - 5th Region Championships
1 - 5th Region Runner-Up
6 - Class-A Region Championships
2 - Class-A State Championships
2 - Class-A State Runner-Up
2 - KHSAA Elite 8 Appearances in the Sweet 16
His dedication, passion, and leadership have shaped our program into something truly special, and we are forever grateful for the impact he has made on our players, school, and community.

On Friday, the BioClub had a heartwarming and creative day, as members received biology-themed Valentines to share with the special people in their lives. In addition to spreading love through these fun Valentines, the BioClub also engaged in a hands-on activity, assembling mini marine animals and plants.
